Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Arizona Basset Hound Rescue.  Volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization.  Arizona Basset Hound Rescue would never be able to save all the hounds we have over the years and in our future without our dedicated volunteers.

Arizona Basset Hound Rescue is an ALL volunteer organization with no physical location.  This means we do not have a place where you can visit the dogs and volunteer to walk or care for the dogs.  If you would like to help at a shelter, contact your local animal care and control or shelter that houses dogs ready for adoption.

Arizona Basset Hound Rescue relies on private foster homes.  If you would like to foster a hound in need and would like more information, visit our Foster Home information page.

Where are some of the areas that Arizona Basset Hound Rescue could use your help?

Transports: Helping a hound get out of a shelter (with intake coordinator’s approval and request), to/from veterinarian office or to/from foster home.  Arizona Basset Hound Rescue covers the state of Arizona, so many times we need volunteers all over the state for a transport.

Adoption Meet’ N Greets: Arizona Basset Hound Rescue participates in many adoption events where visitors come out to meet our foster dogs and learn about our organization.  Volunteers are needed to help talk to visitors and possibly transport a foster dog to the event.

Home Visits: Do you have a friendly Basset Hound or Bloodhound to take along to do a visit a potential adopter and complete a home visit report for the adoption coordinator?  Our adoption coordinator will connect you with a veteran home visit volunteer to teach you the process.

Special Events: Arizona Basset Hound Rescue holds many fundraising events throughout the year such as Waddle O’ the Green, Basset Ball, HOWL-O-Ween for Hounds and Santa Paws Pet Photos.  Volunteers are needed to set up, clean up, organize,  assist with registrations, sell raffle tickets and more.

Volunteering with Arizona Basset Hound Rescue is a great way to give back to the hounds that have given so much to you.  And to meet other great hound owners like you!

Volunteers may attend the general meetings of Arizona Basset Hound Rescue held in April, August and November.  A new volunteer orientation is held prior to the meeting.  Meeting location: Park Central Deli, 3110 N. Central Ave (between Osborn and Thomas Roads).

Keep in mind that the only person who has the authority to intake a dog for Arizona Basset Hound Rescue is the Intake Coordinator.  If you see a Basset Hound or Bloodhound in need, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with photos and details.  If you take the dog in without the Intake Coordinator approval, the dog will be your legal responsibility.
