Upon intake into rescue, the dog will be spayed/neutered, micro chipped, vaccinated and receive any additional needed medical care. The dog will be placed in a foster home for a minimum of a two week evaluation period. After the two weeks, the dog will be able for adoption and meet and greets with potential adopters. While we do NOT require a relinquishment donation, a donation of any amount will help offset some of the expenses AZBHR will incur with the intake of your dog.
Please note – Arizona Basset Hound Rescue gives priority to Basset Hounds and Bloodhounds that are being held in shelters, since they are in danger of euthanasia. We decide which dogs we can take on a case-by-case basis.
We need a minimum of three photos: a head shot and one from each side (dog standing), all taken at the dog’s level. Please send the photos to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . If you do not have the ability to email digital photos or text quality photos, please indicate that in your relinquishment application and an address will be provided for you to send via US mail. When emailing or texting photos, please provide dog’s name, sex and age in the subject line.
If we accept your dog into rescue you will also need to sign our relinquishment agreement. You must understand that you have relinquished all rights to the dog and will not be able re-claim the dog for any reason.
It is helpful if you can bring the dog to us. We have to do a lot of traveling when we place a dog, so we must place the burden of traveling on the relinquishing party. If and when the dog is accepted into rescue, additional information regarding transport will be provided.
